a Wittman W-10 with O-200 somewhere over FLORIDA, USA!

Enter the Wittman Tailwind, designed in 1953
One afternoon I was sitting at Pommie-John's bench, taking fodies and admiring the afternoon when is saw ...what??? VH-WAT, a boxy little airplane with far too short wings and a very short tail, allmost no rudder and ugly small little windows, taxing out to runway 12 at Caboolture airfield. VHWAT on earth was this, I wondered?? Just there and then I decided that people sometimes really are too gutsy...what woul'dnt they fly next. BUT, then I saw this little thing get airborne in no time at all, climb like a rocket to circuit height and dissapear very quickly. What I had seen was a Wittman W-8 and thats where I got hooked - the more I researched the more I needed to know and the more I found out the more I fell in love with this design - Bert tells me he can fly Caboolture to Melbourne non stop and he cruises around the 120knot plus with only a 100 hp engine.......
